There's more to your game than what shows up on the scoresheet.
Every shift involves decisions, positioning, and opportunities that can be difficult to recognize in the moment.
MODE's Hockey Performance Analysis provides players with an independent, detailed review of their game footage, led by an experienced hockey scout and former high-level player.
Through time-stamped observations and individualized feedback, athletes gain a better understanding of what they're doing well, where they're losing opportunities, and what they can work on to become more effective players.
SEE THE GAME DIFFERENTLY.
THE QUESTION EVERY PLAYER ASKS.
WHAT ARE EVALUATORS REALLY LOOKING FOR?
The answer is different for every player.
It's one of the most common questions in hockey. What do scouts notice? Which attributes matter most? What separates players who advance from those who don't?
The truth is, understanding what scouts evaluate is only half the equation. The more important question is how those attributes show up in your game.
MODE Hockey Performance Analysis takes you beyond general scouting advice. Through detailed game-film evaluation, we assess your individual strengths, identify areas for development, and provide specific, time-stamped feedback on the habits, decisions, and skills that shape your performance.
Not just what scouts look for. What they might see in you.
BEYOND THE SCORESHEET.
You can't improve what you don't recognize.
Players invest countless hours in practices, skill development, and off-ice training. But improving individual skills is only part of becoming a more effective hockey player. Knowing when, where, and how to apply those skills during a game is just as important.
While coaches evaluate the performance of an entire team, individualized game analysis allows for a closer look at the decisions, habits, and details that shape one player's performance.
Through detailed video review, MODE provides athletes with an independent perspective on their game. We look beyond goals and assists to evaluate positioning, decision-making, awareness, puck management, and play away from the puck.
Using specific, time-stamped examples from their own footage, players can see where they're making effective decisions, identify patterns that may be limiting their performance, and understand how to approach similar situations differently.
The value isn't simply knowing what happened. It's understanding why it happened, what could have been done differently, and what to focus on next.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE.
Every analysis is tailored to the individual athlete, providing detailed feedback on their performance and clear direction for continued development.
-
An individualized evaluation of game footage examining positioning, decision-making, puck management, situational awareness, and play both with and without the puck. Analysis considers the athlete's position, responsibilities, and development goals.
-
Specific moments throughout the game are identified and accompanied by detailed observations. Athletes can revisit these moments in their own footage to understand effective decisions, missed opportunities, and alternative approaches to different situations.
-
An evaluation of the athlete's strengths, recurring habits, and areas requiring further development. Rather than focusing on isolated mistakes, the analysis identifies patterns that influence overall effectiveness and consistency.
-
Practical, individualized recommendations based on the findings of the analysis. Athletes receive clear priorities to focus on during practices, training, and future games, helping them apply what they've learned to their ongoing development.
-
Player development doesn't happen in a single game.
For athletes looking for continued support, MODE offers recurring game analysis to evaluate progress over time, revisit previously identified development priorities, and identify new areas for improvement.
By reviewing performance across multiple games, athletes can better understand how their decisions, habits, and overall effectiveness are evolving. Each reassessment builds on previous feedback, providing continuity and helping players stay focused on their development throughout the season.
Available as an ongoing development option.
THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE ANALYSIS.
HOLDEN KODAK
Director of Hockey Operations & Director of Scouting, Atlantic Canada — Neutral Zone
Holden Kodak brings extensive experience in competitive hockey, professional scouting, and player evaluation to MODE Performance + Health.
His hockey background spans the Western Hockey League (WHL), British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), and Maritime Hockey League (MHL), followed by university hockey at Wilfrid Laurier University (U SPORTS). Competing across different levels of the game provided Holden with firsthand experience of the increasing expectations, demands, and adjustments athletes encounter as they progress through competitive hockey.
Following his playing career, Holden transitioned into professional hockey scouting and evaluation with Neutral Zone, where he serves as Director of Hockey Operations and Director of Scouting for Atlantic Canada.
Through these roles, he has developed experience evaluating players beyond traditional statistics, considering the technical, tactical, and situational details that influence their effectiveness. His work involves assessing individual strengths, identifying development opportunities, and recognizing the habits and decision-making patterns that distinguish players at different competitive levels.
At MODE, Holden brings this evaluative perspective directly to individual athletes.
His approach combines the understanding of someone who has competed at a high level with the analytical perspective of someone professionally involved in assessing hockey talent. Through detailed game-film review, he provides athletes with an independent evaluation of their performance, identifying strengths, recurring patterns, and specific areas for improvement.
Rather than focusing exclusively on mistakes or individual highlights, Holden examines how a player contributes throughout the game, including the decisions and details that may go unnoticed in real time.
His goal is to help athletes better understand how their game is being evaluated, recognize what influences their effectiveness, and approach their development with greater clarity and purpose.
